The Big Frigging News Event of the Century So Far

Microsoft is going to buy Yahoo for $44.6 Billion.

That's just great.

Seems to me that will make about as much difference to my daily web browsing as a Shoney's-Waffle House merger would make to my weight loss program.

A mediocre search engine/portal is being purchased by a company with customer service skills normally attributed to Rottweillers. This should scare Google and Apple. Not.

From the perspective of a sympathetic historian witnessing the passing of one of the pioneering names on the internet, I'd just like to say, "Huh." Excite, Lycos, Ask Jeeves, Dog Pile - remember them? Yeah. We'll all miss Yahoo. Not as much as CARS, though.
